Takua Thung District

Amphoe Takua Thung ( Thai: อำเภอ ตะกั่วทุ่ง ) is a district ( Amphoe ) in the province of Phang Nga. The Phang Nga province located in the northwest of the southern region of Thailand.

Geography

Adjacent counties and regions are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Thai Mueang and Amphoe Mueang Phangnga, Phang Nga province. In the southwest lies the bay of Phang Nga ( Phang Nga Bay), in the south - separated by the Straits of Pak Phra ( Pak Phra strait ) - Amphoe Thalang is the province of Phuket. To the west is the Andaman Sea.

The nature reserve Namtok Raman ( Namtok Raman Forest Park ) protects about 0.2 km ² around a scenic waterfall ( Thai: Namtok ). The area was set up on 26 October 1983. The largest part of the coast to the bay of Phang Nga National Park is located in Ao Phang Nga.

History

Mueang Takua Thung, like Phang Nga and Takua Pa an ancient city. The old management was in Ban Khai, Tambon Bang Thong, Amphoe Thai Mueang. As 1894 Burmese troops Mueang Takua Pa had attacked Thalang and Takua Thung were the next targets. Therefore, the inhabitants of Takua Thung moved the administration after Tambon Kra Som, where it is still located.

Takua Thung was downgraded in 1899 to a part of the province of Phang Nga.

  • James Bond Island: By road from Phuket to Krabi, Phang Nga Bay north to the town of Phang Nga is on the middle of the track. Management

Amphoe Takua Thung is divided into seven subdistricts ( tambon), which continued in 68 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Krasom covers parts of tambon Krasom,
  • Khok Kloi consists of parts of tambon Khok Kloi.

In addition, there are seven " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
