Talne

Talne (Ukrainian Тальне; Russian Тальное / Talnoje ) is a small town located in the Cherkasy Oblast in Ukraine with 14,428 inhabitants ( 2013) and the administrative center of Rajon Talne.

Geographical location

The city is located 142 km southwest of the Oblastzentrum Cherkassy in the valley of the river Hirskyj Tikytsch and extends to the subsequent plateau.

History

The status of a city has Talne since 1938. During World War II, almost the entire Jewish population of the city, making up about half of the inhabitants of Talne, murdered by the SS and Ukrainian collaborators.

From 1975 to 1979 there was in place a construction site as part of the Druzhba route, with builders from the GDR a compressor station, several apartment blocks, a department store, a school and a kindergarten built.
