Taltal

Taltal on the map of Chile

Taltal is a port city in the region and province of Antofagasta in northern Chile, which was established as Puerto de Taltal on July 12, 1858 by President Manuel Montt Torres.

The Paranal Observatory on Cerro Paranal in the Atacama Desert, 110 km north, is operated by the European Southern Observatory.
