Tam-Tams

Tam - Tams is a cultural event in Montreal, which will be held at the George -Étienne Cartier Monument on the northern end of the Parc du Mont -Royal. Here gather on Sunday afternoons several hundred drummers to make music together. The events begin at 13:00 clock and last until sunset. They attract representatives from different subcultures, dancers, retailers, and many onlookers.

The tradition of the Tam - Tams, named after the French word for hand drums, began in the late 1970s, when a drummer workshop began to meet at the monument in the park. Over the years it developed into a meeting place for locals and a popular attraction for tourists. Today, the Tam - Tams are a symbol of Montreal diversity and hospitality. The occasion is spontaneous nature, there is no fixed organization and no competent cultural authorities. The city authorities are limited to the presence of several police officers and the granting of permits for sale dealer.
