Tamara McKinney

Tamara Price McKinney ( born October 16, 1962 in Lexington, Kentucky) is a former American alpine skier.

She won in her career 18 World Cup races, each with 9 in the slalom and giant slalom. Twice she won the discipline World Cup giant slalom (1981, 1983) and once the crystal ball for their victory in the slalom standings. Her biggest success was - as the first American woman - winning the overall World Cup in 1983.

At the World Championships in 1985 in Santa Caterina McKinney won bronze in the combination, as well as two years later at the 1987 World Championships in Crans -Montana. At the World Championships in 1989 in Vail she was world champion in the combination and bronze medalist in slalom. In the years 1980, 1984 and 1988 she participated in the slalom and giant slalom at the Winter Olympics, but came only once, in fourth in the giant slalom in Sarajevo in 1984 to the finish.
