Tamara Safonova

Tamara STEPANOVNA Safonova (Russian Тамара Степановна Сафонова, born Fjodossowa ( Фёдосова ), from 1966 to 1970 Pogoschewa ( Погожева ) * June 24, 1946 in Moscow) is a former Soviet water jumper, the 1968 won the Olympic silver medal in springboard diving.

Under her birth name Tamara Fjodossowa was in Tokyo at the Olympic Games in 1964. In the art of jumping from the three- meter board they finished fifth behind Ingrid Angel Chandler and three U.S. women. Two years later she won the European Championship in 1966 to third place behind Wera Baklanowa and Delia Reinhardt from the GDR.

At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City jumped next to Tamara Pogoschewa and Ingrid Gulbin (formerly Angel Chandler ) again three U.S. women among the top five athletes. It won the Olympic Fourth of 1964 Sue Gossick before Pogoschewa and Keala O'Sullivan, who was at the end 0.07 points behind Pogoschewa.

As Tamara Safonova 1970 she won bronze behind Heidi Becker and Marina Janicke at the European Championships.
