Tambacounda Region

Tambacounda is a region in southeastern Senegal. The eponymous capital Tambacounda is in the northwest of the region and has 85,000 inhabitants. To the west of Tambacounda borders Gambia, Guinea on the south and to the east by Mali and Mauritania.

The Tambacounda region was divided in 2008. The southeastern part has since formed the Kédougou region. Tambacounda divided since the division into four departments:

  • Goudiry
  • Koumpentoum
