Tambora (Dominican drum)

The Tambora (from Old French tabor on Spanish tambor, " drum ") is a doubt celled cylinder drum from the Dominican Republic, which is mainly used in the merengue. Traditionally, the instrument is played on the lap lying, a page with a baton, the other with bare hands. Original Tamboras have the diaphragm ( mostly skins of female and male goats) taken in rattan and stretched with ropes.
