Tamniès

Tamniès is a commune of 368 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). It is situated on a steep cliff overlooking the valley of the Grande Beune in Périgord noir the Dordogne.

The road to Tamniès into tight serpentines on the hill. The standing at the entrance to the village church dates from the 13th century. Next to the entrance to the church is a small museum with prehistoric tools and other artefacts was set up by the inhabitants. Opposite are obtained or building of a former monastery.

The site is dominated by old quarry stone houses with flower-filled courtyards and picturesque angles. On the square in front of the church reminds one 14th July 1790 planted, hollow tree on the first anniversary of the French Revolution.
