Tamsalu

Tamsalu ( German Tamsal ) is a town in northern Estonia. The city is part of the municipality Tamsalu in Lääne -Viru county.

History

Tamsalu was first mentioned in documents in 1512. Only with the construction of the railway line from Tallinn to Tartu in 1876 learned the hitherto insignificant village an upswing. Around the station a larger settlement arose.

The city specializes mainly in the mining and processing of lime.
