The district Tanahu ( nepali: तनहू जिल्ला ), is one of 75 districts in Nepal. It lies with its main town, Byas in the Gandaki Zone.

Geography

The 1546 km ² large district located in the center of Nepal in the foothills of the Himalayas. His district neighbors to the north: Kaski, Lamjung and Gorkha, in the East Chitwan, in the South: Nawalparasi and Palpa and in the west: Syangja.

Population

According to the census, the district had in the year 2001 315.237 with a population density of 203.9 persons / km ². The largest ethnic group in this district are the Gurung. Many residents on the modes Kola living from fishing.
