Tandem

As a tandem, we describe a two behind the other horses harnessed drawn, mostly single-axle trailer.

The front horse should be easier and more elegant than the right front of the carriage going between the Anzen fork horse. Usually the fork horse wearing a horse collar, while the front horse is usually harnessed with a chest -strap harness. Most of the tensile load is taken over by fork horse.

Tandem and the related random- strain come from England and have over horses harnessed abreast the advantage that even very small roads are passable. Due to the unequal Zuglastverteilung the forward going horse is hardly loaded and is available after the ride as rested horse riding available. Tandem and random tension were also often used for this reason in hunts: Arriving at the destination, the front horses were saddled for hunting.

In tandem uniaxial tension Cart or tandem -Cart -called coach is almost always driven with very large wheels.

The tandem tension is harder to ride than a Four Hand and provides far greater demands on the skill of coachman and horses as the tension of two horses side by side. It is now down to only show purposes.
