Taney County, Missouri

The Taney County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. In 2010, the County had 51 675 inhabitants and a population density of 31.6 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Forsyth, which was named after John Forsyth, a former U.S. Secretary of State.

In Taney County is the place Branson a famous tourist destination.

Geography

The County is located in the extreme south of Missouri in the Ozarks and is crossed by multiple pent-up White River, a right tributary of the Mississippi. It borders Arkansas and has an area of 1687 square kilometers, of which 50 square kilometers are water surface. At the Taney County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The Taney County was formed in 1837. It was named a presiding judge on the United States (1836-1864) Roger Brooke Taney Supreme Court under ( 1777-1864 ).

According to the census in 2010 in Taney County 51 675 people lived in 20,281 households. The population density was 31.6 inhabitants per square kilometer.
