Tangeln is a district of the municipality Beetzendorf in Altmark Salzwedel in Saxony- Anhalt, Germany.

Geography

Tangeln is located on Tangelnschen creek that empties into the Jeetze after a few kilometers. The creek, which rises at Mellin, here is a slope source Moor, the area is protected as a natural monument. Part of the source area is the so-called " baptismal font " where the legend is said to have baptized by Boniface pagan Saxons. History

The place Tangeln was first mentioned in records in 1182, with many preserved megalithic tombs and finds from your time before or early Christian close to a much earlier settlement of the area.

The local church dates from the 15th century and is one of the seven " wrong " churches of the Altmark, the tower is not the West, but to the east. As one of the few buildings of the place of the church tower was spared by the fire with a fire disaster on December 27, 1831.

Castle Neumühlestrasse

Built with the castle Neumühlestrasse, 1938-1942 from Wolfsburg branch of the noble family of the von der Schulenburg, has Tangeln one of the last great palace buildings in Germany of the 20th century. Architect of the building was the renowned Paul Bonatz who built, among others, the reception building of the main station in Stuttgart and the Opera House in Ankara. Built in four years of construction, the castle was purchased by the family of Count Günther in November 1942 von der Schulenburg. The schulenburgische possession and Wolfsburg had been expropriated in 1940 to build the Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg same 35 km southwest. Castle Neumühlestrasse has been built in a modern design of reinforced concrete with four round corner towers, but fell only slightly smaller than the headquarters in Wolfsburg. The castle, located on a hill surrounded by deciduous forests has a remarkable garden. After the expropriation of Count in 1945 it was used as a sanatorium and nursing home. Today it is privately owned again.

Modern History

Due to a change in the contract area, the municipal council of the municipality Tangeln decided on 29 October 2008 that the community Tangeln is incorporated into the community Beetzendorf. This agreement was approved by the county as a lower municipal supervisory authority and entered into force on 1 January 2009.

After incorporation of the previously autonomous municipality Tangeln was Tangeln district of the municipality Beetzendorf. For powered finished my community the village constitution according to § § 86 et seq of the Municipal Code of Saxony -Anhalt has been introduced. The municipality is my finished Tangeln and future district Tangeln was the village of the receiving community Beetzendorf.
