Tanggu District
Tanggu (Chinese塘沽 区, pinyin Tanggu Qū ) was a Chinese city district, which belonged to the administrative area of centrally-administered city of Tianjin. It was located in the east of Tianjin at the mouth of the Hai He in the Bohai Bay of the Bohai Sea. Tanggu had an area of 758.9 km ² and population numbered about 488 300 ( 2002).
Tanggu was the main port of the region and around Beijing, which has shifted from Tianjin here directly to the coast.
In the city of Tanggu District, the Taku forts, which stand on the monument list the People's Republic of China were.
Resolution
As of December 31, 2009, the City Tanggu District was dissolved and its area part of the " New District " Binhai.
