Tania Bruguera

Tania Bruguera ( born 1968 in Havana, Cuba) is a Cuban artist.

Life

The international performance and installation artist grew up on the land, and went first to North America not aware of how many of their fellow artists. The theme of silence and self-censorship as a means of exercising power is its central theme. It sets this in the performances and installations as a representation of the subjugation and exploitation. Tania Bruguera accumulated in her work, physical and mental experiences of alienation and disorientation and thus allude to the political and economic problems of their country.

Much attention was her work Untitled (Kassel ) on the Kassler Documenta 11 in 2002. Supports and this performance was made possible by the commitment of numerous art-lovers, who participated as extras.

Tania Bruguera is currently living in New York.
