Tanisha Wright ( born November 29, 1983 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American basketball player. In 2012 she plays for the Seattle Storm in the Women's National Basketball Association as a point guard.
College (2001 to 2005)
Before Tanisha Wright joined the WNBA she played from 2001 to 2005 as a point guard for the women's basketball team at Pennsylvania State University. Overall, they came to 134 inserts for the university, while she stood 126 times in the starting lineup. In its first three years, she was a great support for Kelly Mazzante, the star of the team. After Mazzante joined the WNBA in 2004, Wright led in their senior season on the team. In her last season, she came to an excellent average of 19.3 points per game. Overall, she scored 1,995 points for the university. In addition, she received several awards. She was chosen among others in the First Team USBWA All-American, has also been appointed three times to the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.
WNBA (since 2005)
Wright was pulled from the Seattle Storm at the twelfth position in the WNBA Draft 2005. Actually, they should occupy the position of the replacement player by Betty Lennox in her rookie season in 2005. After Lennox had been injured, they moved up in the starting lineup of the Storm in August 2005. This month she came to an average of 7.8 points per game, they also hit 58.8 % of their litters from the field. Wright finished her first season with an average of 3.6 points per game. In the following two seasons, it was still used mostly as a substitute player. During the 2008 season, they finally made it into the starting lineup. This they accordingly got more playing time, which was also reflected in their stats for this season. Wright presented with an average of 3.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 7.9 points per game in all these areas, a new personal best at. On January 7, 2009, gave Brian Agler, head coach of the Storm, announced that the contract was extended by Wright.
International ( since 2007)
Wright plays during the season break regularly for teams outside the United States. Among other things, she played in 2007/ 08 Hapoel Tel Aviv BC, a basketball team in Israel. At the moment it plays Gespe Bigorre in the French basketball club Tarbes.
