Tanjō-ji

The tanjo -ji (Japanese诞生 寺, dt "birth mark" ) is a Buddhist temple of the Nichiren shū in the district Kominato Kamogawa on the coast of Chiba Prefecture.

The various schools of Nichiren Buddhism perform their founding to the monk and scholar back Nichiren ( 1222-1282 ). The temple itself was founded in 1276 by a disciple of Nichiren, Nichike on the premises on which Nichiren was also home.

The temple building itself was destroyed by tsunamis in 1498 and 1703, but rebuilt each time. It was originally located in what today in the Tai -no- Ura (鯛 の 浦, obsolete: Tae -no- Ura, dt " sea Brass Bay " ) is. In the second structure by Nichiko in the Huy - time (1704-1710) the building therefore had to be relocated to its present location in sight of the bay.
