Tantow

Tantow is a municipality in the district Uckermark in the extreme north- east of Brandenburg ( Germany ). It belongs to the Official Gartz (Oder ), located in the eponymous city.

Geography

Tantow lies at the long valley of the country ditch that runs parallel between the glacial valleys of the Oder and Randow. The Salveybach drains the Landgraben from Tantow in a southeasterly direction to the West Or at Gartz (Oder). The intensively farmed land in the municipal area is characterized by low Endmoränenzügen along the country trench ( up to 50 m above sea level. NN ). Apart from small lakes and ponds in the valleys, the approximately 35 -acre Schloßsee is appreciably with the projected nature island in the district Damitzow. The nearest major cities are Schwedt / Oder and Prenzlau 30 km and 35 km. In the west the municipality is bordered by the Vorpommern district Vorpommern - Greifswald.

History

The oldest surviving mention of Tantow is from 1255. 1373 the village of Gartzer Stephen's Church has been assigned. In the map of Daniel Friedrich Sotzmann the place is located east as Uckermark enclave of Pomerania Salway Fließes (now Landgraben ). The limit is listed Messtischblatt 1880. Located at the boundary between Pomerania and Brandenburg Tantow was 1479 Brandenburg.

The estate had been since the Middle Ages in the possession of the family of Eickstedt from the house Rothenklempenow. Only short-term changes of ownership until 1945 interrupted the continuous possession of the Eickstedts. The simple manor house was the seat of the administrator or tenant.

On August 15, 1843 Tantow received with a station on the Berlin- Szczecin railway rail connection. On 31 January 1943, here is a serious railway accident than by Dispatchers and Rangierfehlern the express train for furlough, SF 62, slamming down on two locomotives occurred. 38 people died, 16 were also injured.

The neo-Gothic brick chapel was built in 1858. One of the original five water mills in the Salveybach was operated in the former manor park in Tantow. From this part of the 800 year old mill chain only the Salveymühle III is obtained ( in the neighboring museum Geesow, today part of the town Gartz ). After the political changes of a nature and recreational path in Tantow (1992 ) was born. The Damitzower church was expanded in 1994, inaugurated the Tantower church after restoration in 2000.

Transport links

Tantow is situated on the national highway 113 and on the railway line between Berlin and Szczecin ( Stettin). Here is the last German station before the border to Poland. Until the timetable change in December 2011, the morning Intercity held on the relation Szczecin - Schiphol in Tantow. Thus Tantow was the smallest municipality with an intercity railway station of Deutsche Bahn AG. For the revival of the abandoned station building there is the part of a railroad historical association with the idea to build a German-Polish InterRailers and Jugendbegegnungszentrum.

Between 1913 and 1945 a branch line branched off into seven kilometers away Gartz.

In Storkow eight kilometers away there are connections to the Federal Highway 11 (Berlin- Szczecin).

Wind Park Schönfeld

The wind farm Schonfeld at Tantow - Schönfeld consists of twelve wind turbines of the type Enercon E-82 with 138 meter hub height. The rated power of the generators of 2 MW each. Since these systems have a rotor diameter of 82 meters, they have a total height of 179 meters. The wind farm Schonfeld is thus the wind farm in Brandenburg with the highest wind turbines with towers enclosed design. Although the wind farm Spremberg has higher towers, but they are manufactured with an open steel truss construction.
