Tantum ergo

The hymn Tantum ergo includes the last two verses of the Holy. Thomas Aquinas wrote the hymn Pange lingua.

The hymn sings of the Blessed Sacrament, worship the body of Christ in the Catholic Christians, and is usually sung before the sacramental blessing in Eucharistic adoration. Frequently is then followed by a versicle and prayer as Oration the days of Corpus Christi, which is sung by the priest or deacon who donates the blessing.

The hl. Thomas wrote several Eucharistic hymns, Lauda Sion so that is sung as a sequence at the feast of Corpus Christi, Adoro te devote and O salutaris hostia.
