Tanzawa Mountains

The Tanzawa Mountain Country (Japanese丹 沢 山地, Tanzawa - sanchi ) is a Japanese mountain region in Kantō. However, the name is not officially recognized. The region is located in the northwestern part of Kanagawa Prefecture and borders the prefectures of Shizuoka and Yamanashi to the west in the north.

Tourism

Especially the eastern part of the mountain is an important recreational area for the metropolitan area of Tokyo / Yokohama due to the good transport links ( Odakyu Odawara Line). For experienced hikers, a climb of 1,491 m high Tōnodake (塔ノ岳) as a day trip is possible. Marked hiking trails and mountain huts allow for multi-day mountain trips in the Tanzawa Mountains. Visitors come from around the country and increasingly also from other countries. The western part is less frequently visited, but offers opportunities for popular in Japan Sawanobori ( " Upriver climbing "). In this sport you wading through a stream as far up the mountain and climb in through waterfalls, gorges, etc.
