Tao-Rusyr-Caldera

The Tao Rusyr caldera (Russian Кальдера Тао - Русыр ) is a caldera on Onekotan, one of the Kuril Islands in Russia.

The caldera has a diameter of 7.5 km and is largely filled by a crater lake whose water surface is 400 m above sea level. It originated around the year 5500 BC was released during a volcanic eruption of magnitude 6 on the Vulkanexplosivitätsindex, in which around 33 cubic kilometers of material. In the lake rises an island called Krenizyn which consists only of the same name, 1,325 m high volcano. This last had in 1952 an eruption of strength 3
