Taplejung is one of the 75 districts in Nepal. It lies with its main town, Taplejung in the Mechi Zone.

Geography

The 3646 km ² large district is the easternmost district of Nepal and lies directly on the Indian and Tibetan border in the Himalayas. His neighbors are in western Sankhuwashabha district, in the south Terhathum and Panchthar. In the east, Jhapa borders the Indian state of Sikkim and Tibet to the north.

The highest point of the district is the 8586 m high Kangchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world.
