Tarchon

Tarchon (Latin Tarchon; . Ancient Greek Τάρκων, Tarkon ) was, according to ancient legends of Begründerer several Etruscan cities.

Tarchon was the brother or son of Tyrrhenos. He had founded twelve cities, including Tarquinii ( Etruscan Tarχna ) and the Twelve Etruscan league of cities organized.

Near Tarquinii he plowed the day, a grandson of Jupiter, from the earth. This taught the Tarchon the " Etruscan discipline " ( disciplina Etrusca ), a doctrine of divination and prophecy.

The name Tarchon is associated with the Hittite weather god Tarḫunna.
