Tarforst is a district of Trier with about 6,605 inhabitants, consisting of the place Tarforst (Alt - Tarforst ), which has preserved its rural character, and the development area Trimmelter farm on the so-called Tarforster level below the older village.

History

Tarforst and its surroundings are old historical ground. The archaeological finds which came to light during excavations are assigned to former Roman settlements. Even the name " Tarforst " points to the Roman period: Centarburs (Latin: " 100 Trees" ). At the center of the village was the tenth house of the abbey of St. Maximin, and around this farm around the place enlarged over time. 1933 Tarforst 458 inhabitants. On 7 June 1969, the old district was incorporated as part of a local government reform in the city of Trier.
