Tariq Ahmad, Baron Ahmad of Wimbledon

Tariq Mahmood Ahmad, Baron Ahmad of Wimbledon ( born April 3, 1968 in London) is a British- Pakistani businessman and politician ( Conservative Party ). Ahmad is by Mohamed Sheikh, Baron Sheikh and Sayeeda Warsi, Baroness Warsi since 2011, the third Muslim life peer for the Tories in the House of Lords.

Life and career

Ahmad was born in London in the Wimbledon neighborhood park. There he grew up and attended school. He graduated from a degree in business; his focus was Financial Accounting ( Financing ) and capital investments (investment ). He earned a bachelor's degree with Honours (BA Hons) and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers ( ACIB ).

From 1991 to 2000 he worked for the NatWest Group. The Investment Manager Alliance Capital, he was Director from 2000 to 2003. Since 2004 he is Director ( Strategy and Marketing Director ) Sucden Financial Limited.

Political career

In 1994, he joined the Conservative Party. From 1997 to 2002 he was Deputy Chairman ( Deputy Chairman ) of the Wimbledon Conservative Association, where he was Executive Officer from 1999 to 2001 and from 1999 to 2001 Vice Chairman ( Vice-Chairman ). From 2008 to 2010 he was Chairman ( Vice Chairman ) of the Conservative Party for the City of London boroughs and the City of Westminster.

He held various offices at the local level. He was from 1994 to 1997 member of the Merton Racial Equality Council. In the Council ( Merton Council) of the London Borough of Merton in 2002 he was member of the Council ( Councillor ). From 2003 to 2006 he was headmaster ( School Governor ) of the Wimbledon Park School. From 2006 to 2008 he was in the Council of the London Borough of Merton Member ( Cabinet Member) for Environment and Transport (Environment and Transport ). Since 2008 he was the in the areas of Municipal safety and Volunteering ( Community Safety and Engagement ). He was opposition spokesman for the Group of the Conservative Party in the fields of environmental and urban renewal (Lead Spokesperson on Environment and Regeneration ) in Merton Council. In March 2012, he resigned as a councilor in order to concentrate on his duties in the House of Lords and to his future father duties. From 2006 to 2008 he was also Vice Chairman ( Deputy Chairman ) of the Committee on Transport and Environment ( Transport and Environment Committee) at the London Councils, the common association of the London Boroughs.

In the general election of 2005 he was a candidate for the constituency of Croydon North.

Ahmad is a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. He is the Conservative Friends of Pakistan and since 2003 the Conservative Friends of India to.
