Tariqa

Tariqa (Arabic طريقة, DMG Tariqa, way, path, method ', plural turuq طرق / turuq ) is a term used in Sufism, the first of all refers to the spiritual path, the Sufi taken to find to by the Shari'a to reach divine truth, but also a community of people who follow such a path, in other words, a Sufi order (or a Sufi brotherhood ).

The various orders are thereby usually named after its founder Sheikh, refer back to them in a spiritual lineage ( Silsila ). On these founder -Sheikh are usually also certain rituals and symbols that distinguish the Order is returned. Among the typical rituals of various Sufi orders include certain dhikr exercises and litanies, as is, or Hizb be called Ratib.

If there are a large number of different Sufi orders (see this list), so they all have one thing in common: the dervishes trust the mental- spiritual leadership of their sheikhs to, it usually does not not they live a celibate life and in many cases also in closed monasteries.
