Tarkan (comics)

Tarkan is the comic book character of the same name cartoon series by Sezgin Burak.

The emergence of the figure

While Burak has worked in Milan in 1965 at Studio D' Ami, he created the character of El Cougar and co-signed the figure Colosso. During this work, he has planned to draw a Turkish comic book character and started to read about the Huns, who are the Urtürken according to the official Turkish history thesis, as well as their legendary leader Attila. In the 1940s, already two comic series were published over Attila in Turkish children's magazines that were drawn by Şahap Ayhan Ayhan and Erer. Tarkan was actually a figure that originally appeared in this series. Burak has continued to work this figure and represents them as a warrior and ambassador, who taught in the vast Hun empire with his faithful wolf communication between different peoples.

Publication

The series was first published on July 21, 1967, and is published in 21 books containing a total of 15 adventures. The series has also been translated into English, French and German.

Tarkan was a popular figure in the Turkish cinema. The first film, which was inspired by Tarkan was Targan, the steppe Falcon ( Bozkırlar Sahini Targan, 1968, Mehmet Aslan ).
