Taron people

The Taron are an ethnic group of small stature with today only very few members in Southeast Asia. Because of their small body size, they are also referred to as " pygmies ". Your name is due to the flow Taron, at the headwaters they have lived about 200 years ago.

The diminutive, 110 to 130 centimeters Taron live in the Golden Triangle between Myanmar, Thailand and Laos. The last four Taron live in the far north of Myanmar in Kachin State in an inaccessible valley in the foothills of the Himalayas. In this mountainous area, the tribe had once withdrawn for fear of enslavement.

Due to their small numbers and problems due to the close blood relationship with each other, the Taron began to mix with neighboring peoples. It is therefore assumed that they will soon no longer exist as a separate ethnic group.
