Tarthang Tulku

Tarthang Tulku (Tibetan Dar -than sPrul -sku Rin - po-che, * 1935) is a Tibetan scholar of the Nyingma tradition.

Life

Tulku came from an old Tibetan family. Already in his childhood he was recognized as the reincarnation of a deceased Lama. His education has also received considerable attention and age of eight he was sent to the Nyingma monastery Tarthang, where he was joined by a number of rebirths. Later he was appointed to the Sanskrit University in Benares and settled in 1969 in the United States, where he founded the Nyingma Institute in California among others.
