Tasman Island Lighthouse

The Tasman Iceland Lighthouse is a lighthouse on Tasman Iceland, located on the southeast coast of Tasmania, Australia.

It is one of the most isolated and highest towers in Australia. The tower was built at the highest point of the island at 250 meters on the edge of cliffs butts, and the signal light is emitted at an altitude of 276 meters. The Lighthouse of Tasman Iceland was built in 1906 and automated in 1976. On the 1.2 km ² island the lighthouse keeper did not like the service because of excessively frequent wind and rain. 1930 in addition to the beacon, a radio station has been established, which is not available today. Since 1999, the lighthouse is powered by solar energy.

Tasman Iceland is part of the Tasman National Park. Following the automation of the lighthouse building of neglect succumbed.
