Tasmin Archer

Tasmin Archer ( born August 3, 1963 in Bradford, Yorkshire ) is a British soul, pop and rock singer and songwriter. Her biggest hit was 1992 Sleeping Satellite.

Biography

The daughter of Jamaican parents sang in various local bands and worked as a background singer and toilet woman in ' Bradford 's Flexible Response studios '. With guitarist John Hughes and pianist John Beck, who were aware of her there, she wrote in Hughes kitchen songs. The three musicians recorded on demo tapes, which they sent to various recording companies. First refusals, also of the EMI Group, which later, in 1990, entered into an agreement with Archer came.

The hallmark of the British woman is her powerful, soulful voice with which they can express a wide range of emotions. Their first record Great Expectations (1992 ), which was produced by Elliot Randal, Robbie McIntosh and Paul Wickens, contained the hit song Sleeping Satellite, the philosophical grappled with the Moon landing. The single placed in the charts in Germany and Austria, Switzerland and the United States but also in Great Britain, where it was even a number 1 hit. The album was successful in these countries.

Although further singles and albums failed to match this success, were she and her partner Hughes faithful to their style. The title In Your Care managed in the UK after all, still ranked 16th Until 1996, came the Lords of the New Church, Somebody 's Daughter, Arienne, Shipbuilding and One More Good Night with the Boys in the charts, if only to lower ranks.

Tasmin Archer 1993 won a BRIT Award for her breakthrough. The so far last studio album On came in 2006 in the trade. A remix of A Day Will Come 2007 was available as an MP3 file.
