Location

Samples is located about six kilometers northwest of Worbis and 14 kilometers northeast of Heiligenstadt at the northwestern foot of Ohmgebirges. The village lies on the main road in 2017, the south of the town has connection to the highway 247 and leads to northern Duderstadt.

The district extends from Hahletal to Trogberg ( 502.9 m), the north-west pillar of the Ohmgebirges. West is the dam bell ditch.

Neighboring towns are Wehnde in the north, the south and Ferna Teistungen in the West.

History

Samples was first documented in 1090. The Knights of samples had a fortified manor house, which she later conversions as a castle. Castle and remains of fortifications are immortalized on an image in Bodenstein 's stock ledger. 1623 during the Thirty Years' War samples was completely destroyed. The St. Gallus church was built in the years 1725-1727.
