Tatamkulu Afrika

Tatamkhulu Africa (* December 7, 1920; † 23 December 2002) was a South African writer and poet.

Life

Tatamkhulu Africa was born in Egypt and moved as a child to South Africa. He fought in World War II and was a member of Umkhonto we Sizwe, the military wing of the African National Congress.

His first book, Broken Earth, he wrote at the age of 17 years, but it took more than 40 years to his second work appeared Nine Lives.

He died in 2002 from injuries sustained in a car accident, shortly after the publication of his last book Bitter Eden.
