Tatra K1

The Tatra K1 was a tram articulated railcar of the Czechoslovak manufacturer Tatra CKD, of which only two prototypes were built.

History

The previously developed railcars were built for the transport of as many passengers, but they had very little seating. Therefore, two two-piece articulated cars were built in the years 1964 and 1965. The articulated cars, the average truck was not driven, also the electrical equipment has been modified. When K1 the gears were switched automatically for the driver was therefore to use no difference to the T3. The K1 was a compressed air brake as the first vehicle.

Use

From the types K1 only two prototypes were built, because during the tests many weaknesses in the electrical equipment appeared. The two vehicles were then tested from 1964 to 1965 in Prague with the numbers 7000 and 7001, in the years 1965 to 1968 in Ostrava with the numbers 800 and 801. After 1968, the cars went back to the manufacturer Tatra. Remained under a mass production of these vehicles.
