Tatsuno (Nagano)

Tatsuno (Japanese辰 野 町, machi ) is a town in the district kamiina in Nagano Prefecture on the main Japanese island of Honshu.

Geography

Tatsuno is located at the northern end of the Ina Basin on the River Tenryu. Due to its location at the junction of Inatal and Suwatal it was always been a transportation hub. In Tatsuno is the official geographic center of Japan, which is marked there with a sign. Tatsuno is bordered by the cities of Okaya, Suwa and Shiojiri and to the also to the district kamiina belonging municipalities Minowa and Minamiminowa. Although Tatsuno belongs to the district kamiina, economic and cultural ties with the communities of the Suwa region are more pronounced.

History

The city of Tatsuno as a modern local authority of the local government was established on 1 January 1947. Previously, the same municipality had a name other than the village. On April 1, 1955 Tatsuno was merged with the village of Asahi. On 30 September 1956, the inclusion of the village Kawashima and on March 31, 1961 was followed by the incorporation of the village of Ono.

Traffic

The area of the city of Tatsuno is tied with six stations on the Japanese rail network. Are the stations Tatsuno, Shinano- Kawashima and Ono At operated by JR East Chūō Main Line. Are the stations Tatsuno, Miyaki, Ina- Shinmachi and Haba At operated by JR Central Iida Line. By Tasuno lead the national road 153 and the Chūō - highway, at the highway rest stop Tatsuno is.

Educational institutions

The city of Tatsuno operates four elementary schools and one middle school. In the Ono district there is also still one primary school and a secondary school, which are jointly supported by the city and the city of Tatsuno Shiojiri. Furthermore, there is the Tatsuno High School, which is supported by the prefecture. With the Shinshu Honan Tanki Daigaku, there is also a private university in Tatsuno.

Glühwürmchenfest

Tatsuno is known in Japan as the city of the fireflies. In the Matsuo Canyon is a protected nature rearing area for fireflies. Every year during the mating season of the Tatsuno fireflies firefly festival ( Tatsuno hotaru matsuri ) held that tourists from all over Japan attracts.
