Tattnall County, Georgia
The Tattnall County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Reidsville.
Geography
The County is located in southeastern Georgia, is about 90 km from the Atlantic Ocean and has an area of 1264 square kilometers, of which twelve square kilometers of water surface, and borders clockwise to the following counties: Candler County, Evans County, Liberty County, Long County, Wayne County, Appling County and Toombs County.
History
Tattnall County was formed on December 5, 1801. It was named after Josiah Tattnall, a politician and governor of Georgia.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Tattnall County 22,305 people in 7,057 households and 4,876 families. The population density was 18 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 60.51 percent White, 31.43 percent Black or African American, 0.14 percent Native American, 0.29 percent Asian, 0.08 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 6.64 percent from other races groups; 0.92 percent were descended from two or more races. 8.44 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 7,057 households out of which 33.0 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 51.1 percent were married couples living together, 13.4 percent were single mothers and 30.9 percent were non-families. 26.7 percent of all households and 11.9 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 3.12 persons.
22.9 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 11.2 percent between 18 to 24, 34.6 percent between 25 and 44, 20.0 percent between 45 and 64, and 11.2 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were statistically 136.1 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 146.3 males.
The median income for a household was $ 28,664, and the median income for a family $ 35,951. Males had a median income of $ 28,994, women $ 19,984. The per capita income was $ 13,439. 18.6 percent of families and 23.9 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
