Tatyana McFadden

Tatyana McFadden ( * 1989 in Leningrad) is an American wheelchair athlete of Russian origin. In the years 2004 and 2008, McFadden was successful at the Paralympics on the short distance and in the relay, 2012 McFadden approached also in the marathon.

Life

McFadden was born with a malformation of the spinal cord and is thereby paralyzed from birth, from the waist down. The first six years of life spent McFadden in an orphanage her birthplace. In 1994 she was adopted by Debbie McFadden and moved to her adoptive family in the United States.

In 2004, McFadden at the age of 15 years for the first time at the Paralympics in Athens and won a silver and a bronze medal. At the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing she won three silver and one bronze. By winning the Wheelchair Marathon 2011 in Chicago to McFadden qualified for the Paralympic Summer Games 2012 in London, where she won three gold medals and one bronze.

2014 McFadden took part in the Winter Paralympics in Sochi in 2014 and won a silver medal in cross country skiing in the discipline 1 km sprint.
