Birth and childhood
Xhaka was born in 1991 in the then Yugoslav Gjilan, the son of Kosovo Albanian parents from Pristina. With his family, he moved in early childhood in Switzerland to Basel, where Taulant grew up with his younger brother to one and a half years in the small granite Xhaka Basel.
He began playing football at FC Concordia Basel, and switched to the juniors of FC Basel 2003. His debut in the first team he had at the Cup game against FC Mendrisio- Stabio when he came on in the 72nd minute when the score was 4-0 on 19 September 2010. In the season 2010/2011 Xhaka was Swiss champion with FC Basel.
In January 2012, the FC Basel gave him until June 30, 2013 at the Grasshopper Club Zurich. Since the 2013/14 season he is back in his parent club and there is regularly used.
Taulant Xhaka played in the Swiss U-17 national team in the U-17 European Football Championships 2008. During the Swiss U -20 team, he made his debut on 6 September 2010 at the Stadium width, Schaffhausen against the German U- 20th His first game for the Swiss U -21 was on 7 October 2011 at the 1-0 away win against Georgia U- 21st
