Taurobolic Altar (Lyon)
The taurobolium Altar of Lyons is an ancient Roman stone altar, which was found in 1704 in a vineyard on the Fourvière in Lyon. The inscription testifies to a taurobolium in the year 160 AD, which was to serve the health of the Emperor Antoninus Pius.
The dedicatory inscription is on the front above and below a bull's head - reliefs. It reads:
