Tavaux

Tavaux is a commune in the department of Jura, Franche-Comté region with an area of ​​1368 acres and 4113 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). The town is located on the Canal du Rhone au Rhin 3 km southwest of Dole.

Tavaux lies on the ancient trade route ( now the National road N 73 ), which runs from Besancon to Chalon -sur -Saône and has already secured first by the Romans. Remains of Gallo- Roman houses are evidence of a settlement that was probably destroyed in the 4th century.
