Tayga

Taiga (Russian Тайга ) is a city in Kemerovo Oblast (Russia) with 25.331 inhabitants ( October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located in the north of the oblast, about 100 km north whose capital Kemerovo. The climate is continental.

The city taiga is the Oblast subordinated administratively directly. The city's five villages with a total population of 2,611 subordinate, so that the total population of the administrative unit " city taiga " is 27,491 (calculated 2009).

Taiga is a station on the opened on this section in January 1898 Trans-Siberian Railway ( Route 3565 km from Moscow). Here the branches at the same time opened branch line to Tomsk ( later extended: 1937 to Asino, 1973 to Bely Yar ).

History

Taiga originated from the late 19th century in connection with the construction and operation of the Trans -Siberian Railway (1898 is considered the founding year). 1925 was the site of a town.
