Taylor Hall

Taylor Hall ( born November 14, 1991 Calgary, Alberta ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who stands in July 2010 with the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League contract. He was selected first overall at the position of the Edmonton Oilers in the NHL Entry Draft in 2010.

Career

Taylor Hall was selected in the OHL Priority Selection Draft 2007 in the first round in second position of the Windsor Spitfires. In his rookie season with the team in the game in 2007/ 08 he completed a total of 68 games and reached 89 points. His 45 hits were the most of a rookie in 16 years. Consequently, he was awarded as the best rookie of the year with the Emms Family Award and also nominated to the All- Rookie Team. The season was crowned with the award for CHL Rookie of the Year. Even in his second season in Windsor acted the Forward as one of the key players of the team and belonged to the permanent staff. He could improve his score and yield was positive, especially in the play-offs in appearance. Due to its impressive performance, he was awarded the most valuable player of the finals and won the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award. In the last OHL final game he scored the winning goal against the Brampton Battalion for his team, which thus the J. Ross Robertson Cup won. In 2009 he also won with Windsor and the Memorial Cup, the most valuable player was Hall. In the 2009/10 season, he managed again to increase its yield points and win with the team in the gap in J. Ross Robertson Cup and Memorial Cup in a row. Hall was in the Memorial Cup again awarded the Stafford Smythe Memorial Trophy and also received the Ed Chynoweth Trophy as leading scorer. Already in the OHL season, he had the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy shared with Tyler Seguin as the top scorer with 106 points.

After these appealing benefits he was rated by NHL Central Scouting Service and the International Scouting Service for the NHL Entry Draft 2010 behind Tyler Seguin on the second rank of the field players in North America. When carried out on 25 June 2010 drawing talent he was eventually selected as the first overall by the Edmonton Oilers. On 5 July 2010, he signed with the Oilers a three- year contract to the maximum terms for a rookie. For the 2010/11 season he managed the immediate jump to the NHL Edmonton Oilers of the squad and he made his debut on October 7, 2010 in the game against the Calgary Flames. For the NHL All-Star Game in 2011, he was nominated as one of twelve rookies participating in the Honda NHL Super Skills. 19 February 2011 Hall scored against the Atlanta Thrashers his first hat-trick in the National Hockey League and met three times on the powerplay. On 3 March 2011 he achieved his first Gordie Howe hat trick, as the striker in the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets scored a goal and an assist and delivered himself a fight with Derek Dorsett. In this struggle, Hall moved to an ankle injury that had the season end result for him.

Internationally

Internationally, Hall played for the first time at the World U -17 Hockey Challenge at the turn of 2007/08. As a member of the team of the province of Ontario, he won the gold medal.

Only four months later, the left winger ran in the U18 World Youth Championship 2008. There he first played for his country. For times but winning the gold medal Hall contributed nine points in seven games. Finally, he was able to win 2008 Gold in August of the same year also at the prestigious Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament. After Hall had not been considered for the U20 Junior World Championship 2009, he took part in the tournament for the first time in 2010. He was able to record in six games, six goals and assists, so he was the third-best scorer of the competition. After a final defeat against the United States, the Canadians had to be content with the silver medal for the first time since 2004.
