Taylor Hawkins

Oliver Taylor Hawkins ( born February 17, 1972 in Fort Worth, Texas) is an American drummer and member of the rock band Foo Fighters. The name Taylor he wears in accordance with one of his idols, Roger Taylor ( drummer of Queen).

Career

At the age of 10 years, Hawkins began playing the drums, inspired by drummers like Stewart Copeland and Phil Collins. Later, he joined several cover bands he retrospect referred to as "horrible". His first -known band was the project Sylvia, which he founded together with the later Anyone founder Riz Story. The sound of this project is described as psychedelic and experimental.

After Sylvia had dissolved, Hawkins rose Alanis Morissette in a touring band. Since 1997 he has been a permanent member of the Foo Fighters. As a drummer he is also on a solo album by Queen guitarist Brian May to hear ( Another World, 1998). It also came to a total of four common live performances of the Foo Fighters with the remaining queen musicians. For the 2000 soundtrack album released for Mission: Impossible II, the Foo Fighters along with Brian May recorded a cover version sung by Taylor Hawkins of Pink Floyd's Have a Cigar. Also on the album In Your Honor, published in 2005 can be heard in one piece ( Cold Day In The Sun ) on lead vocals Hawkins.

Since 2005 he has been active with Chris Chaney of Jane 's Addiction also in a side project called Coattail Riders ( Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail and Riders ) as lead singer. The first album was released in spring 2006 addition, Taylor has been on the album Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star: IV - Volume 2:. No World for Tomorrow the band Coheed and Cambria played all drums.

2014 he will publish a side project called The Birds Of Satan on April 15, an eponymous studio album. The band consists besides him from Mick Murphy ( guitar) and Wiley Hodgden ( bass). Dave Grohl and Pat Smear also will participate as a guest.

Private life

Hawkins family moved to Laguna Beach ( California ) when he was 5 or 6 years old. He has a brother named Jason. He currently lives with his wife Alison in Topanga ( California). He is regarded as Horrorfilmfan. His favorite bands include The Police, U2, Pink Floyd and Queen. By his own admission Hawkins suffers from severe stage fright.

Trivia

Hawkins and Dave Grohl play occasionally at live shows called Drum Duels, ie parallel drums, or swap them and Hawkins takes over lead vocals and guitar. After the There Is Nothing Left to Lose Tour Hawkins went due to drug problems in medical treatment. 2003 Hawkins was next to Dave Sardy, Scott Weiland and Chris Goss one of the guests at the Camp Fire Girls album Tell Them Hi ( Interscope ).
