Taylorsville is a city and county seat of Christian County in the center of the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2000 Taylorsville had 11,427 inhabitants; up to the 2009 estimate, the population had risen to 12,142.

The city is the birthplace of Edward Mills Purcell, a physicist and discoverer of the resonance absorption phenomena of nuclear magnetism.

Geography
