Tbilisi International Film Festival

The Tbilisi International Film Festival (Georgian თბილისის საერთაშორისო კინოფეატივალი ) is the most important film festival in Georgia. It takes place annually in October in the Georgian capital Tbilisi instead.

History

The first two festivals in 2000 and 2001 were initially part of the " International Festival of Arts" in Tbilisi ( GIFT) instead. In 2002, the film festival was an independent institution.

Organizer of the Tbilisi International Film Festival, the Cinema Art Centre "Prometheus". Main partners are the International Film Festival Berlin. It is supported by the National Center for cinematography, the union of filmmakers, the city of Tbilisi, the Ministry of Culture and the Goethe Institute.

Program

The objective of the Tbilisi International Film Festival is to promote the art of film to encourage the Georgian film industry and to make contacts with professionals from other countries.

The festival shows in each case around 50 feature films, documentaries and short films. It is divided into the sections " International Competition ", "Forum of European Cinema ", " Georgian Panorama", "Documentary ", " retrospective " and " special performances ".

For the competition, ten films will be named. From them choose three juries of the best film for the Film Awards Golden Prometheus and Best Director for the price Silver Prometheus. There is a three -person international jury, a FIPRESCI jury and a jury Parajanov.

During the festival, master classes will be held for film students.
