Tbilisi Open Air Museum of Ethnography

The Museum of Ethnography at the Turtle Lake (Georgian გიორგი ჩიტაიას სახელობის ეთნოგრაფიული მუზეუმი ღია ცის ქვეშ, giorgi chitaias sakhelobis et'nograp'iuli muzeumi ghia ts'is k'vesh ) is an open air museum in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi ( Tbilisi ). It is located on the hill south of the city center and just west of Turtle Lake. It was opened on 27 April in 1966 and is since 2004 a part of the Georgian National Museum.

Description

70 buildings were transferred from all parts of Georgia in the 52 -acre museum. Among them are built of stone and wooden farmhouses of various building types. Furthermore, water mills, watchtowers, wineries an early Christian basilica, a family vault and 8,000 objects of daily life can be seen.

The museum is easily accessible from the city center on a highway. By 2010, led by the heart that is the cable car up to the lake and to the museum.
