Tchintabaraden is a department in the Tahoua region in Niger.

Geography

The Department is located in the west of the country. It consists of the township Tchintabaraden and the rural community Kao. The eponymous capital of the department is Tchintabaraden.

History

After independence in 1960, Niger's territory into 32 districts ( circonscriptions ) was divided. One of them was the district Nomade de Tahoua (also Tahoua Nomad ) with Tchintabaraden as its capital. 1964 was divided into seven administrative reform Niger departments, the predecessor of the later regions, and 32 arrondissements, the predecessor of the later departments. As part of the district Nomade de Tahoua was converted to the district Tchintabaraden. In 1998, the former arrondissements of Niger were raised to departments, each headed by an appointed Council of Ministers is prefect. As part of the Department Abalak from the Department Tchintabaraden has been solved. The structure of the department in communities exists since the year 2002. Previously, it consisted of the urban center Tchintabaraden and a residual zone. In 2011, Tillia Tassara and dissolved as a separate department from the Department Tchintabaraden. Population

The Department has Tchintabaraden 2012 143.598 inhabitants according to the census. In the 2001 census, before the spin-off of Tassara and Tillia, there were 89 457 inhabitants, 84 321 inhabitants in the census in 1988 and in the census 1977 103 169 inhabitants.
