Oxalic acid bis TCPO (2,4,6- trichlorophenyl ), abbreviated, a chemical compound, a di- ester of oxalic acid, the light is emitted when the fluorescent dyes are present. Together with a weak base, hydrogen peroxide and the color dye there is determined the peroxyoxalate chemiluminescence.
Extraction
TCPO is obtained from a projection of 2,4,6 -trichlorophenol, toluene and a base such as triethylamine at less than 10 ° C and subsequent reaction with oxalyl chloride.
Use
Put on the market glow sticks on a chemical basis using aromatic oxalic acid esters such as TCPO and DNPO. TCPO lit longer, but weaker than DNPO. By the addition of weakly basic catalysts (eg sodium salicylate, triethylamine), the lights of TCPO reinforced at the expense of light duration. Scientifically, the compound is used for the detection of fluorescent compounds in the liquid and protein and DNA bands in membranes.
