Team RadioShack was an American cycling team that was sponsored by RadioShack. It took place in the years 2010 and 2011 as a UCI ProTeam in the most important cycling race in part and then merged with the Luxembourg team Leopard - Trek to Team RadioShack - Nissan. The previous operator of Capital Sports and Entertainment moved in parallel to this from the management of the team back.
The team was founded in 2009 by Lance Armstrong in after it had separated from Astana. With the exception of the Tour winner of 2009, Alberto Contador, Armstrong changed besides all driver of the tour squad will of Astana ( Klöden, Zubeldia, Leipheimer, Murawjow, Paulinho, Popovych, Rest ) and four other Astana riders ( Brajkovic, Horner, Rubiera, Vaitkus ) to RadioShack. Team owner was the company Capital Sports and Entertainment, which also manages the farm team Trek Livestrong U23.
The team was awarded by the International Cycling Union UCI in 2010 a ProTeam license until 2013 and thus the right to participate in the most important cycling race.
The team supported the Livestrong campaign of the Lance Armstrong Foundation. As other sponsors of the team Trek Bicycle Corporation, SRAM Corporation and Nike occur.
As a team manager acted Lance Armstrong's longtime companion Johan Bruyneel.
On September 5, 2011, the merger of Team RadioShack was confirmed with the Luxembourg team Leopard-Trek for the following season. The team so formed was named the new RadioShack - Nissan. The team structures and the license remained in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Much of the Team RadioShack team was taken over, as Johan Bruyneel as team manager. While the previous operators of the team, Capital Sports and Entertainment, withdrew from the organization that sponsors continued their support continues even after the merger.
